Congratulations to the 2019 Young Georgia Authors State-Level Winners!

Northwest Georgia RESA was well-represented with the highest number of state-level winners and honorable mention recipients. We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication these accomplishments represent.

State-Level Winners:

  • Jase Folson, a Kindergartener from West End Elementary in Rome City, with his entry titled "Blud Moon"

  • Cate Norwood, a first-grader from Westwood School in Dalton Public Schools, with her entry titled "Can't Catch me"

  • Payton Baker, a senior from Sonoraville High School in Gordon County, with her entry titled "Look at Your Future"

Honorable Mention recipients:

  • Clara Davis, a second-grader from West End Elementary in Rome City, with her entry titled "Happy Place"

  • Rylan Mull, a third-grader from West End Elementary in Rome City, with his entry titled "The Time I Caught My First Fish"

  • Ellisa MacDonald, a fourth-grader from Cartersville Elementary in Cartersville City, with her entry titled "Hercules' Story"

  • Kendall Barrett, a tenth-grader from Ridgeland High in Walker County, with his entry titled "Family is Everything: A Lesson Learned at the Battle of Cantigny"
